Cllr Ronnie Hughes withdraws from Assembly Elections

Picked up the news this morning from the following Tweet:

Labour's Ronnie Hughes pulls out of Aberconwy race in Assembly elections - he'll talk to Derrick Orme about his decision on @Tudno_FM at 2pm

This will be a disappointing for the Labour supporters, whether you support Labour you can not question  Cllr Ronnie's commitment and passion for the area.

Cllr Ronnie has been recovering from a serious heart condition and I'm would imagine that this decision is predominately based upon this. I also understand the Labour Party were putting pressure on him to make his decision asap.

It was good to see Cllr Ronnie back in the Bodlondeb Offices last week.

We will now have to wait and see who Labour select as their new candidate for the Aberconwy seat for May's election.
You can listen to the interview with Cllr Ronnie Hughes on Tudno FM on 107.8FM if you are within range Or via the Internet at:

Update 8pm: I was in a meeting all afternoon at Cartrefi Conwy and hence missed what Cllr Ronnie had to say about his decision. I did though pick up the following "tweet"

Ronnie Hughes on air now - ''gutted, but had to make decision'', ''I could have won this''. His replacement to be named within a week.
